Councilor G.T. Bynum and his wife, Susan, are the proud parents of Robert - the sixth generation of Bynums to call Tulsa home. Councilor Bynum currently serves on the senior management team for Williams & Williams Worldwide Real Estate Auction, a national real estate firm.
Prior to working at Williams and Williams, Councilor Bynum was employed at the Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross where he kept residents of Northeast Oklahoma updated on the Red Cross response to the January 2007 ice storms, which at the time was the largest sheltering operation in Tulsa Red Cross history.
Councilor Bynum also spent six years in public service working in the United States Senate for Senators Don Nickles and Tom Coburn. He assisted Senator Nickles in the development and maintenance of the Kerr-McClellan Navigational System, which leads to the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, and he helped in the federal clean-up efforts related to the Tar Creek Superfund Site - the nation's largest toxic waste site. Councilor Bynum also worked on the staff of Senator Tom Coburn when Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. He represented Senator Coburn in the creation of legislation with Democratic Senator Barack Obama to establish a single oversight entity for the response.
Councilor Bynum feels strongly about giving back to our community, and does so through service on the boards of directors for the Tulsa Historical Society and Leadership Tulsa. He views these as opportunities to learn from and honor Tulsa's past while developing the leaders of Tulsa's future. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Tulsa and earned his Eagle Scout designation in high school as a member of Troop 73.
