Councilor Karen Gilbert was joined by Mayor G.T. Bynum, City Councilors and local teachers to announce the start of "Tools for Schools," a supply drive for teachers in Tulsa Public Schools. All Tulsa Fire stations will be the collection points for Tulsans to bring supplies from August 1-11.
This drive provides teachers with supplies to support their classrooms that they would typically purchase out of their own pocket. The supplies that Tulsa teachers need most are dry erase markers, copy paper, pencils, crayons, colored pencils and spiral notebooks (one subject, regular ruled).
"All of us across the city can team up and show our Tulsa teachers that we support them," Councilor Gilbert said. "We want them to have a successful school year."
After the supplies are collected, Tulsa firefighters will bring them to a Tulsa Public Schools facility, where volunteers from the Tulsa Council of PTAs will sort the supplies so they will be ready for distribution to teachers.
