This summer, voters will have an opportunity to vote on a third Improve Our Tulsa package funded by General Obligation Bonds and a sales tax extension. This Improve Our Tulsa renewal will fund improvements to identified City facilities and sites while also providing capital funding for public safety equipment and street maintenance. This extension will not raise taxes for Tulsans.

Housing, Homelessness, & Mental Health Task Force
A task force to understand the needs of the community in addressing homelessness at the intersection of housing and mental health and to create a strategy for the City to best utilize its policy and legislative powers, public convening and education platforms, and financial resources.

The City of Tulsa's Fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. The City prepares an annual budget based on the Oklahoma Municipal Budget Act and City Charter. State law requires the City to carry a balanced budget.

Community Development Priority Projects
The Improve Our Tulsa 2 package included $9 million for "Community Development Priority Projects," equally divided among the nine City Council districts.

The Tulsa City Council recently formed a new committee, the Tribal Nations Relations Committee, to create a more direct dialogue between the Council and members of our sovereign tribal nations.

A hotel tax, also known as a lodging tax, is a fee added to the cost of short-term lodging. The City Council is in the process of considering a proposal from November 2025, increasing the Hotel Guest Tax from 5 percent to 9.25 percent of the cost of a hotel room. This increase, if passed by the voters, would be the first in over 40 years.

How do City leaders decide the budget plans that shape our city's future? It all begins with a discussion of priorities at the annual Mayor/Council Budget Retreat.
These priorities then inform the City's fiscal year budget. The next fiscal year runs from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, and is the City’s financial roadmap, or spending plan, for the year.
