The City Council met on September 11, 2024, for committee meetings and a regular meeting.
Below are the highlights of Council discussion and action items.
Urban & Economic Development Committee Meeting | 10:30am
Proposed Budget Amendment - Tulsa Police Training & Purchase of a Tactical Vehicle
Councilors discussed a proposed budget amendment that would allocate funds within the Police Department Equitable Sharing Justice SubFund for the purpose of training and the purchase of a tactical vehicle.
The tactical vehicle will enhance officer and civilian safety during violent incidents, such as hostage situations and active shooter scenarios, and can also serve as a rescue vehicle during natural disasters.
Officer training will be led by the Special Operational Team and will focus on the vehicle’s use in various scenarios, including responses to armed suspects, hostage situations, active shooters, high risk warrants, and dignitary protection.
The Council is scheduled to vote on this item at the 5pm regular meeting on September 18.

Public Works Committee Meeting | 2:30pm
Mayor's Designation of Temporary Mayor(s)
Mayor G.T. Bynum presented to the Council his choices for temporary Mayor(s) should there be an absence or temporary disability of the current Mayor. The individuals that would serve as Temporary Mayor(s) are:
James Wagner
Anna America
Krystal Reyes
Rodrigo Rojas
The Council voted to approve the designations at the 5pm regular meeting.

Memorandum of Understanding - Tulsa International Airport Economic Development Project Plan
Councilors met with representatives from the Tulsa International Airport and the City’s Economic Development Director to discuss a memorandum of understanding between the City of Tulsa and Tulsa County regarding the proposed consideration of an amendment to the Tulsa International Airport Economic Development Project Plan.
The memorandum of understanding is a shared objective of both the City and County to promote economic developments to attract major investment, enhance their tax bases, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life in and around the boundaries.

Sales Tax Overview Committee Monthly Status Update
Representatives from the Sales Tax Overview Committee presented their monthly status report on current projects and activities, including announcing three vacancies in the committee for Districts 3, 4, and 6. Other updates included the upcoming groundbreaking of the new animal shelter on September 18.
